I’ve had so many people ask me about my wedding and how it was to be on the other side of things for a change. I spend so much time documenting other people’s weddings, it was so strange for it to finally be time for my own! Being a part of so many celebrations for other people really helped me narrow down exactly what I wanted when it came time to planning our day. We ended up having a small ceremony with just family and our closest friends – and it was wonderful. The day was relaxed and fun – and it went by SO fast. But, my favorite part of the entire day was when Taylor and I read notes to one another. We didn’t write our own vows for our ceremony (mainly because I thought I would cry and didn’t want to blubber in front of everyone :)) but I still wanted to have a personal element to the promises we were about to make one another. So, we decided to share some personal vows privately during our first look and it was one of the best decisions we made (and I did cry so I’m really glad we didn’t do it during the ceremony lol). It is so special to have those letters that we can keep now – and SO special that we have video of it thanks to our amazing videographers at WedFlix. I know some couples choose not to have a first look – but it was wonderful to be able to see Taylor and have that time alone together and I wouldn’t trade that for the world. If you’re not wanting to do a first look, I totally understand that – but I’d still recommend that you make time at some point during your wedding day to take just a minute alone with your new spouse and tell them how much they mean to you and how you feel. The wedding day zooms by and it helps slow it down a little to take a few minutes to take it all in 🙂 Scroll on down to see the video!!
If you’d like to see a little highlight video from our day, here’s the link to our amazing trailer! I’ll share more pictures soon!
